Brief description and main aims
The centre was established in 2018 by Miss. Dyegula Ndunamiwe who is a social worker and gender specialist from the Institute of Social Work (ISW). The overall objective of the centre is to provide a early childhood education and to contribute to child protection and development for the kids aged between 2 -5 years old regardless of their family’s social-economic status at Tabata-Kimanga and neighbourhood areas. The project has 4 staff members including Director, two teachers and a cook. Currently, there are 25 kids.
Main Activities
Primary target of the centre is to provide learning and playing space for child development from low-income families at Tabata-kimanga and neighborhood areas.
Volunteer tasks
- Teaching children to count in English
- Teaching children English, drawing and painting
- Organizing sports and games
- Helping local staff to prepare home work for the kids
- Supporting with administrative work
- Taking care of the children
Volunteer requirements / Skills
This project is suitable for both skilled and unskilled volunteers who:
- Are at least 18 years of age at the time of arrival
- Have a good knowledge of spoken and written English
- Enjoy spending time with children
- Interested in child development activities

Tabata –Kimanga in Dar es Salaam.

4 weeks to 6 months
Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)
The volunteer stay in a host family that offers a shared room with another sibling sometimes, two meals a day while volunteer can get lunch at the project, and boiled water. Volunteer can walk or take bajaj (tuk-tuk) or boda-boda (a motor-cycle) from/to the project
