Brief description and main aims
The Kindergarden “Joaquin Figueroa” is a public institution, which focuses on providing the best education at the preschool level, so children can develop life-lasting skills and gain a global vision. Other objectives include:
- Providing them with opportunities and skills for their development
- Increasing their multi-cultural learning
- Developing language skills
- Providing free education to children with low economic resources
Main Activities
In the project, children receive care and education according to their age.
The regular activities include:
- Handcrafts
- Exercise
- Games
- Learning and integration activities
The Jardín de Niños Joaquín Figueroa also offers talks and workshops for the families.
Volunteer tasks
- Assist the teachers in daily activities, like checking the homework
- Offer support during sports lessons
- Develop workshops (art, music, sports, etc.) for children
- Support the teachers during English and computer lessons
- Interact with the children and offer them support in their daily tasks

Location
The project is located in Ocotlán, Jalisco.
Most of the children who attend this kindergarten come from dysfunctional and poor families. Moreover, as a public institution, the kindergarten lacks resources for its activities. Therefore, volunteers might be able to see a different reality from their country.
Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)
The volunteer will live with a host family.
