The aims of Instituto Suizo “William Tell” are to provide education to over 200 students from 3-14 years of age.

The school is divided into a kindergarten and a school where the children are taught subjects, such as Maths, Science, English, Social Studies, Physical Education, Language and Computation.
The volunteer contributes to the school life mainly by working as a teacher. Supported by the Ecuadorian teachers, the volunteer gives 40 minutes English classes. The volunteer is responsible for teaching and structuring the lessons, giving homework, designing and giving tests.
The volunteer must:
Previous experience with working with children, or the ability to play an instrument or to dance, would be an asset.
The project is located in La Planada, an urban, but outlying area in the north-west of Quito about 3000 meters above sea level. In the morning it is quite cold, later it can be sunny and hot. The population is quite poor and the majority of adults work as domestic servants and construction workers in nearby upper-class communities. The director’s family lives next to the school which helps cultivate a close community atmosphere.
The volunteer will live with a host family.
Working hours will be from Monday to Friday 7:30am.-1:00pm.
