Brief description and main aims

The mission of Achiaa Greenlight School is to provide formal education, to produce future leaders and to contribute to the shaping of children in Ghana. The school has about 700 students and over 50 employees. It admits children who are between 2-16 years old. It has daycare, primary and junior high school departments.

Volunteer tasks

Volunteers will assist the teachers in performing their duties. Some of the tasks include:

• Teaching
• Planning content for the courses
• Taking care of the children
• Providing support to children who need special attention in some subjects

Volunteer requirements / Skills

The school is open to receive volunteers who should:

• Be between the ages of 18-30
• Be willing to work together with students or high school graduates who are culturally open-minded and like to enrich their lives with new experiences
• Be able to communicate in English, as it is the teaching language

Location

The school is located in Suame, Kumasi. Suame is centrally located so all other parts of the city can easily be reached.

Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)

Volunteers will be accommodated in the school, as there is a furnished apartment on the school compound.
